After Church last Sunday we decided to go up the mountain and let the kids ride their bikes, go on a short hike and enjoy the smell and sights of fall that we really don't get down in the valley. We had a GREAT time, just wish we would have brought our jackets, it was cold.

Like I said it didn't take long for McKay to figure out that people were giving him candy He started RUNNING, and I mean running as fast as his little legs could carry him from door to door to get as much as he could. Steven and I constantly had to keep an eye on him because he would just take off. In this picture it was so cute. He is running down the street waving to the other children on the other side. And yes that is a sucker in his mouth, I was running behind him praying that he wouldn't fall and hurt himself
Grandpa Damron came with us and he took care of Brigham I don't know what we would have down without him Brigham too keeped running from house to house to get as much as he could
McKay really didn't know what to make out of this whole Halloween ordeal, I had to give him a sucker to keep him happy at first and take him to the first couple of doors But it didn't take long for him to figure it out...
Halloween came so fast this year, with all the projects we have been working, on the holiday kinda got pushed to the back burner. So Sat. was a mad scramble (for me at least) to finish carving our pumpkins, last min costume details and get ready for the main event, trick or treating
McKay went as "Super Boy" got to love those Hanna Anderson PJ's this is the 3rd year I have used them in some sort of costume
Aubrey was a Jellyfish I saw this super cute and easy costume in this month's familyfun mag. It turned out really well, and she got LOTS of complements
I didn't get a really good picture of Brigham, which I am really upset about But he went as Batman, he has wanted to be this since last year His costume was easy, he just wore his PJ's I just needed to make a cape because the one that came with the set got packed into storage. (He is trying to put in his glow in the dark teeth)
We have not cut McKay's hair since he was a baby. We have loved his beach bum look but it had started to get to that point where he had crazy bedhead hair all day long. And it was starting to get a little too long in the back

Daddy's got the honors of cutting the hair Mckay did really well, I keeped the hair out of his face and feed him goldfish to help him keep still
The "after" shot, and boy does he look happy he was so mad at us because we keeped asking him who this new little man was. I still can't get over how much older he looks, and more like Brigham
Ok, I just have to say this. We were so excited to take our kids to the pumpkin patch, a tradition we really want to be apart of our holidays. I had looked up on the internet Apple Annie's website and it mentioned all their fall festivities and it mentioned a 3 dollar hayride to the pumpkin patch. Well it never mentioned the price of the pumpkins so I thought that it also included a small pumpkin, Little did I know. The price of the pumpkins were OUTRAGEOUS!!! 3.00 for a small (and I mean small) pumpkin, jumps up to 9, 18, and 25 dollars Forget the idea of everyone picking out their own. I don't think that I would have been so upset except that you could buy large pumpkins at Walmart for 3 dollars (that size was 18.00$ at the pumpkin patch) and they had fields and fields of pumpkins. I asked if their prices got lower closer to the end of the the season, nope, they stayed that way all the way to Halloween day. Then to just top it off, I asked what they did with all the extra pumpkins, and they just plowed them under. I think next year we are going to just plant our own pumpkins

Yes it was still very windy
Our final selection, yes it was HUGE ended up being a whopping 25 dollars but we chalked it up to "being part of the experience" and we will have to break the piggy bank when we get home.
Ok, so I am a little sore about how expensive everything was, but we really did have a fun time, even with the wind blowing dirt in our faces like crazy. Next time I am doing to do a little more homework so there are no surprises and start saving my money now.
To get in the halloween spirit we decided to take the kids to a pumpkin patch to have them pick out their own pumpkins for halloween. The closest patch was 45 min away and sounded like lots of fun, with hayrides, a cornmaze, sunflowers, and pick your own pumpkins (in N.C., we couldn't pick them from the field ourselves, insurance wouln't let them) So we were off to Apple Annies, pumpkin patch
The sunflower patch was beautiful, with field and field of sunflowers in full bloom
The hayride
The hayride was,... well not quite what we were hoping for. It was EXTREAMLY windy. The wind kept blowing sand, and dirt, and hay into our eyes and faces. We didn't even get to look at the sights around us because we were keeping our eyes shut tight. well, part of the experience, I hope the kids had fun.
