We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Oh what a Night

Saturday evening we went over to a friends house for a potluck dinner and a chance for our kids to hang out and for us grown-ups to have a chance to play some games together. But sometimes you never know what is going to happen. My Friend has already posted the experience so I am copying her words ( I didn't see a copyright) Because she truly captured the moment.

For our dinner we had decided on Taco's, sounds easy enough, quickly but together, can be messy but usually is a crowd pleaser.
Well, I had just but the taco shells in the oven on broil to crisp them up a bit before serving when I here Aubrey screaming her I really am hurt cry so I go to investigate. Brigham had hit her on the head with his metal car. She had a nice bump which was hard to capture on camera. (doesn't she look hurt)

While attended Aubrey I totally forgot about the taco shells in the oven. When we remembered we figured they were burnt. That was an understatement. We opened the oven and flames came billowing out! Steven pulled the sheet out of the oven and ran out to the backyard with it. Here are the two men enjoying the fire.

What they looked like after all the flames had died out. Yep, they were burnt.

After dinner we got the kids occupied with a movie and popcorn in the playroom. Then us adults played a card game in the kitchen. We played for quite a while. Our Friends commented how well the kids were getting along. They hardly even came in to ask us for things. Except once for scissors (the kid ones) and various food items. Well, wouldn't you know, about 10:15pm Aubrey comes walking into the kitchen with a new haircut. She had cut her own hair! Their Will wasn't too far behind having cut his own! They sure were getting along! The funny thing was how so incredible proud they were of their new haircuts!

They were even good enough to throw away their hair after they cut it! Look how much we found in the trash!!!

We then did our best to repair the damage.
These two are just SO cute! I love the looks on their faces in this picture. It's like their thinking, "They just don't understand."

We decided after the haircuts that we should probably end the game night and put kids to bed :) After what had occurred in the space of only a few hours I didn't want to even think what another hour or two could produce.

Over all we really did have a fun night and I have to admit Aubrey looks so cute with her new haircut. But when I said my prayers that night I was SOOOO Thankful that Aubrey had ONLY cut her hair to her chin and NOT any shorter.
Aubrey has not regretted her decision, the only thing close to a regreat came the next moring when she woke up her comment to me was "Mommy my hair did not grow back last night". After explaing it was going to take awhile she was just fine.

What we have been up to

OK I have so much to blog and I have started several drafts and now I am finally getting around to posting them so here you go.

Starting off we have already had 2 snowfalls and it was BEFORE Thanksgiving, Aubrey missed the first one, She was at school but we got a video of Brigham enjoying the magic. The second fall occurred just a few days later right before the bus came. It was just flurries and it did not stick at all but that did not stop Aubrey from going outside to play in it.

For Thanksgiving we went up to Steven's Sister, Susan (say that 5 times fast) in Washington D.C. and spent a wonderful holiday with them. We love living closer to family. When I download photo's off my camera I'll post those.
