Wild Violets

The other day as I was in our backyard I noticed a sea of purple and as I looked closer I saw it was wild violets growing and a wave of memories flew by me. I remembered when I was probably 10 and my parents had just built a new home in Pennsylvania and my Mom was transplanting wild violets in front of our home. My mother walked all over our property looking for plants to transplant, she even pulled over as she was driving by a field because she noticed the farmer who was plowing his field was just plowing them under and asked if she could have them. His reply, "take all you want they are just weeds to me". I still remember the smile on her face, free flowers! Those flowers became a beautiful ground cover and in the Spring they were amazing. I will always think of my Mom now whenever I see these flowers and the beautiful Children's song: 'I often go walking' that goes:

1 I often go walking in meadows of clover,
And I gather armfuls of blossoms of blue.
I gather the blossoms the whole meadow over;
Dear mother, all flowers remind me of you.

2. O mother, I give you my love with each flower
To give forth sweet fragrance a whole lifetime through;
For if I love blossoms and meadows and walking,
I learn how to love them, dear mother, from you.

Mother I love you so much!!!!!

Spring is here YEA!!!!!!

If someone were to ask me what my favorite season was I trully would have the hardest time making my decision. I love every season for all the new changes it brings. But WOW it has been wonderful watching Spring macically appear this year. North Carolina is BEAUTIFUL, I have never seen so many flowering trees. I felt like sing the popcorn song every time I drove anywhere because the trees where white with blossoms and when the wind would pick up, the air would be filled with delicate white petals almost like snow. I LOVE Spring!!!

Mowing the Lawn

There is nothing more satisfying then a freshly cut lawn. Instant gratification in a job well done. We haven't needed to do any yard work for some time and it got to the point that it didn't look bad but it didn't look that great either. But can I just say WoW, our yard looked so nice, made me wonder why we waited so long.

One Lucky Girl

It had rained for 4 days strait and when the sun finally came out it was such a beautiful day. We spent almost the whole Saturday outside. As a way of keeping the kids entertained and as an excuse for myself to just sit in the grass, relax, and enjoy the beautiful day we hunted for four leaf clovers. ( We just had St. Patrick's Day) It started as a way to relax but the more I searched, the more I wanted to find one. Honestly I have NEVER found one and I was determined. Aubrey and I looked for a long time, Brigham gave up and started playing on the swings and McKay was inside asleep. Right before it was time to come in Aubrey came running toward me, "I found two!! " I didn't believe her at first, I have looked for years and the first time she even tries, she finds not one but two. As she handed them to me and I started counting the leaves, yep, she was right! Two four leaf clovers. So she is going to be extra lucky.
Overall it was such a fun time to relax and be outside and maybe one day I will find one.

St. Patrick's Day

Aubrey learned all about leprechauns at school so the night before St. Patrick's Day we made a Leprechaun trap.
We didn't catch a Leprechaun but he did fall for our fake gold and almost got caught in our trap.
As a punishment for trying to catch him he turned our milk green and opened all the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen

Brigham's Wardrobe

I let Brigham dress himself most days, unless we have somewhere to go (out in public) because he loves to wear all of his favorite things, at the same time. As you can see, or if you look closely he is wearing three pairs of shirts, and two pairs of pants and his speedracer shorts (all PJ's). Now if you were to ask Brigham why he is wearing all of his pajamas, he would look at you square in the eye and reply with a little force. These are NOT PJ's they ARE CLOTHES!!! Now when the day is over and he has taken his bath and it is time to go to bed he comes in wearing the exact same thing. Brigham why are you wearing your clothes? These are NOT clothes, these are PAJAMAS'S! Oh well, cuts down on laundry and McKay will have some nice hardly ever worn clothes when he gets bigger, will just need to buy him new PJ's. Just for the record the temperatures outside are warming up and we now average around 68 in our home. Brigham still chooses to dress in several layers, out of habit, I'm not sure. It is so funny to watch him get dressed because it is not easy to put all those layers on.

This photo is one that Brigham took himself and represents Brigham's other article of clothing he loves to wear, Aubrey's tights. Yes, I find him all the time trying to put them on. Now I have to admit it is my fault, during the winter the few times it snowed I put Brigham in Aubrey's thick tights to help keep his legs warm and he has been putting them on ever since. He has practically took over the black pair, which thankfully are the most conservative but with the weather warming up hopefully his taste will change. Now all I need to do is work on his potty training, the whole outside world is his personal bathroom, and all are welcome, and he is not shy. You know it's bad when you see your son run outside instead of to the bathroom to go potty.
