Just a real quick update on our trip to TMC. First I have to thank my WONDERFUL mother-in law for watching over the kids so Steven and I could go. Steven and I had a great time getting away together and it was wonderful having each other for support and think about different questions that we might have. We were able to talk with one of the pediatric specialist that is over the Neonatal Incentive Care Unit or NICU. He answered a lot of our questions and we were able to learn more thoroughly what to expect after our little girl is born. Our biggest one was how long will she be in the hospital, and we learned any where from 1 1/2 to 3 months. We toured the NICU, Labor and Delivery, and also the Mother-baby unit where I will recover. We also spoke with a pediatric surgeon and got more of an idea of how the surgery is preformed. More then likely they will be putting her intestines into what is called a "silo" and gradually let gravity push the intestines back inside her abdominal cavity ( it takes about 7 days). Then it is a waiting game as they slowly start the process of feeding and watching how the body reacts.
So after a long day we feel more prepared, and I will be honest, reality is starting to settle in and I am well... scared is probably the best way to say it. I know that these next couple of months are not going to be easy but I also know that the Lord is watching over us and that everything will be alright.
On a side note, I also had another Dr.'s appointment yesterday and I spoke with my regular OB doctor, and he mentioned that he had been looking over my initial ultrasound and they might be changing my due date. That first scan actually would push my due date back a week and a half which would be wonderful and very important. One thing that the Ped specialist really talked about the importance of was making sure that she was not delivered to soon, they wanted her to be a least 35 weeks along. and right now I am closer (with my new due date) to 32-33. So hopefully everything goes well, she continues to grow and her small intestine continues to work properly.

Staying Busy

We just got natural gas piped to the house and they brought a HUGE pile of dirt to help fill in the big trenches that they dug, Our kids and the neighbors children had a BLAST climbing, sliding, and jumping off there "new playground".
Middle of a house project.
As if we were not busy enough already, we are in the middle of several house projects, the biggest one is remodeling the kitchen. It is going to be great when it is all finished, we are just still in the working phase. McKay is our little helper. It does not matter what is being done. If Daddy is working on a project McKay is never far behind with a hammer or screwdriver of his own to help out.
Valentine's Day come so fast this year and I was not at all ready. So after a late run to Walmart Saturday night, a roll of red streamer and pink and red construction paper, it began to look a little more festive. I felt the the kids had enough candy so I we just got them a small toy instead. We had the traditional heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, and it was a pretty low key for the rest of the day. At least for the kids, after 18 months my parents were flying home from their mission in Cambodia. I was a mixture of emotions that day. I am extremely proud of my parents. I knew that this was not an easy mission, and it was hard for them to be so far away. I was planning on being there in Utah for their arrival but was unable to because of my high-risk pregnancy, But I will be seeing them soon.
The pregnancy is going great. She is getting bigger and bigger, well, at least I am. The good news........ She has flipped and is now head down so my chances of delivering her natural are much greater. We are taking a tour of the Tucson Medical Center on Tuesday. We will also be talking to Pediatric specialist and be getting a better idea about what will happen after she is born. My next Ultra Sound is going to be a BIG one; they will once again be measuring her for growth and monitoring a bulge in her intestine. We will also be getting a better idea of when we might be having her. I know so many of you have been keeping us in your prayers and we have truly felt them. Please what we ask for now is in your prayers to ask that she will grow, and her small intestine will continue to function properly. Thank you again for all your prayers in our behalf. They have been a pillar of strength for me and my family.

Silly Boys
Boys will be Boys
Over the past week I have really noticed a change in the way Brigham and McKay play together. They want to be together. They play better together and in all they just enjoy making each other laugh. I am just glad that both of them still want Mommy to be part of their club.

Being silly at lunch time
I had a funny picture of Brigham as well, but I just loved his smile in this one, where has my little boy gone? He looks so grown up.
By the way he is SO excited for his birthday (and that is an understatement, he asks me about every 1 to 2 hours, everyday, when is it going to be his birthday) He wants a HOTWHEEL birthday party. He has really gotten into their cars and tracks and spends all day building new runways for his favorite cars. He constantly has to have at least three cars in his hands at all times, unless he is playing with them. He takes them to the table for each and every meal, and yes he sleeps with them at night. The only place where he is not allowed to take a car is Church, but that hasn't stopped him from trying to sneak one in.

This is the magnetic wall I was talking about in my last post. The kids have really enjoyed it. McKay still likes to rip everything off of it every once in awhile, but he is really good at cleaning it up again. I have to admit I have found myself searching the internet on occasion for more magnetic toys for the kids to play with.
For an update on my pregnancy, My life revolves around Dr. Appointments, trips to the hospital for non-stress tests, and ultrasound visits. And guess what? It is only going to become even more frequent as I get closer to my due date.
Last Thursday, I actually when into the hospital because I hardly felt her move that day. Of course as soon as I got there she was moving around like crazy. It took three different nurses and 2 hours to get a decent reading of her heartbeat.
The small intestine looks great there is no evidence of any dilation, so everything seems to be working properly. However, I did have a ultrasound yesterday to measure her growth and she is falling behind. Last month she was 2 weeks behind, now 4 weeks later she is 3 weeks behind. Normally this would not be a problem, I would just be delivering a small baby, but because she needs to have surgery, it can be a big problem. Right now she is in the 15% for her gestational size, and at 10% they really start to worry. If she continues to fall behind, they will have to postpone the surgery until her little body can handle it. This means more time in the hospital and greater risk of infection. I asked what I could do to try and help her to grow, and I was told eat more, and be less active, relax, relax, relax. Any extra calories I burn can potentially be taking away from her. So as I yet, I am not on bed rest, but I am trying to take it easy.
Also the little stinker is still breached. So my request for you now is please, in your prayers ask that she will grow and if possible please flip, I really don't want to have a C-section unless I have too.
